AlipayHK integrates e-wallet with McDonald's HK app

AlipayHK has partnered with McDonald's Hong Kong to help drive the digital transformation of the catering industry.

Under the agreement, AlipayHK has become the first e-wallet integrated into the McDonald's mobile app for mobile ordering and payment.

Users of AlipayHK will be granted exclusive rewards through the app using the QR code-based payment system.

AlipayHK CEO Jennifer Tan said the agreement forms part of the ongoing digitalization of the restaurant industry based on trends including mobile payment services and big data analytics.

“AlipayHK expects that mobile payment services are geared to extensive and in-depth applications and development through the latest co-operation with McDonald’s Hong Kong. Currently, Alipay customers can use the e-wallets to make payment in nearly 10,000 restaurants. In collaboration with McDonald’s Hong Kong,” she said.

“AlipayHK hopes the initiative will help spearhead and incentivize more restaurants to engage in digital transformation in food and beverage sector. It will surely let customers gain bespoke experience and amazing convenience on mobile ordering and payment, turning the concept of smart living a reality.”

Meanwhile AlipayHK has also announced the official introduction of its virtual mascot AliSa. AliSa is based on the words for “happiness” and “pleasure” in the Hebrew language.
