Award: CORPORATE MULTIFUNCTIONAL COPIER/PRINTER/SCANNER
Winner: Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Color Series
Despite a growing prevalence of document digitization, printed documents are still essential in today’s working environment. Enterprises across different industries require copiers that offer multiple functions.
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Color Series’ ability to integrate mobility, personalization and security has allowed it to be voted as winner in the corporate multifunctional copier / printer / scanner category of this year’s Computerworld Hong Kong Awards.
“Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Color Series is designed to complete simple yet work-intensive document processing, as well as to effectively improve business efficiency,” said Philip Chan, director and general manager of business imaging solution & production printing group at Canon Hongkong.
He added, “As a result, it significantly reduces operational cost, and ultimately elevates a company’s competitiveness.”
The major customers of Canon’s copiers in Hong Kong are small and enterprise workgroups, which are looking for operation efficiency and quality printouts.
“Many customers have turned to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE range to help further business growth through the use of our efficient, secure and customizable office solutions,” he said.
To address the mobility demand in the modern workplace, the copier provides Wi-Fi direct printing, mobile application printing, and cloud printing. Mobile devices like smartphones and tablets can be connected to the copier without requiring a wireless access point.
The copier is also integrated with Canon’s mobile platform MobileWork. “The platform enables enterprises to enhance efficiency of document management, human resources management, and information hubs,” he said.
Users can receive company messages and announcements, and connect with other users by messaging, document sharing and annotation or workflow application and approval such as application or approval of annual leave.
Personalization & security
Personalized user interface is available on the copier for each user, which is “optimized for the workflow of each individual employee.” Employees can customize the initial settings of the copier to have their own user interfaces like screen language and individual address book. By touching a personalized icon screen, employees can enjoy a convenient login while maintaining security.
Information and data leakage have become a growing concern for enterprises. Chan said the copier offers improved document security and effective management where users can encrypt documents upon file scanning, storage, and sending. The contact information in address books can also be safely protected.
Other functions of the copier including V2 color printing technology with a broad color range for vivid and vibrant color output, support for various file formats, and ECO-Staple in the 3-in-1 finisher for binding documents without staples, according to Chan.
Canon’s development roadmap for copiers includes keeping abreast of the latest technologies and customers’ demands to enhance its copiers’ capabilities.
“We will continue to address the most demanding challenges in today’s working environment by combining the best of our technologies and constant innovation,” he said.
