Thinxtra, the company rolling out a territory-wide low power wide area (LPWA) IoT network across Hong Kong, has expanded its local management team to accelerate IoT adoption in the city.

Thinxtra has appointed Joe Sun as general manager of its Hong Kong operations.

Sun has more than 20 years’ experience in the technology and telecoms industries. He is a veteran of CSL’s mobile solutions development team as well as Hutchison Telecom’s corporate sales team.

Thinxtra is the exclusive Hong Kong operator for the Sigfox LPWA standard and Hong Kong’s first wireless IoT license holder.

The company is seeking to nurture a local ecosystem of IoT businesses and researchers as it builds out its Sigfox network in Hong Kong.

The Sigfox global cellular IoT network currently spans 45 countries to serve a market of more than 800 million people.
